lubbocks poker king Steve Stavro, who has won more than $200 million on the game, was arrested last week.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Stavrock was arrested Wednesday night in Lubbock on a warrant for failure to appear on bond for a felony charge of grand theft.
The arrest comes amid a continuing investigation into the death of a man who was killed by Stavros friend, former Texas Rangers slugger Shawn Tolleson.
According, Tolleson, whose nickname is “The King,” was shot by Stravro in an apparent robbery attempt, in which the former Texas Ranger fired three shots into Tolleson’s chest and chest area before fleeing the scene.
Stavros defense attorney said in a statement to WFAA that he and Tolleson had “good chemistry” and that Stavroms actions were in self defense.
Stavross, who was arrested and faces up to 10 years in prison on the charge of aggravated murder, has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Stravro, 43, has been the owner of the Dallas Cowboys franchise since 2000.
He has a net worth of more than a billion dollars.
He was born in Texas and raised in Texas, where he grew up in a baseball family.
